RCBO residual current circuit breaker is an intelligent device needed to protect people and animals from electric shock. It measures differences between phase and neutral and if there appears difference bigger than 30mA it disconnects the circuit. It is best to protect wiring in rooms with high moisture (bathroom, garage, basement, WC etc). It can be used also for dry living rooms – but if these rooms have a potential fire danger – it is better to use AFCI circuit breaker.
The AFCI works on different principle – analyses continuously electrical waves and if detects faults – it disconnects the circuit. The AFCI is more expansive and more effective, and it doesn’t suit for rooms with high moisture.
